What Customers Say About Remixed & Reimagined:

Listen to it on my MP3 player, in the car, at work. Excellent album. It's a new way to listen to Nina if you feel like you've heard all the songs before. Can't get enough of it. Highly recommended.

It is as if a firebrand preacher is comming down from the alter, and the two of you are sharing scotch, dirty jokes, and ciggarettes. It focuses on her later work, which is more oriented towards rock and pop.

Her ability to give such waight to the waighty issue of her day, raceism, is admerable, and she tackled it with complete courage and honesty, long before most other artists, white or black did. i always had very conflicting feelings about Nina Simone.

Yet, even when she is singing a love ballad, that vibrato tinged voice sounds deadly serious. All of which is what makes this album so great. Yet, when i listen to her, I really have to prepare myself, because this is going to be one HEAVY experiance: listen to Pirate Jenny or Two sisters, or for that matter, most of her work, and it is an emotional, frightening, almost menacing experiance.`You get the feeling she is pissed enough to reach through the speaker and kill you.

This is not a critcism, because the music is so genuine, and the racial gripes very well founded in those days. The remixes of, say "what I got" or "to love sombody" remind you of how good a singer she was, even outside the heviness of her era, and outside of the fact that her voice is defiantely an aquired taste.but for me, the selling point has to be "Funkier Than a Misqito's Tweeter" The riff and her approach to the material almost make this a funky piece of hard rock, and the mix is just incredible, taking the song through all kinds of permutations--drums, tablas, studio chatter--and it just KICKS/ Plus, Nina's vindictive, caustic women scorned attitude on this is FUNNY-even she seems to love the humor of it--is a refreshing side of her i have never heard before.

i wish she did more of this.

If you are a purist and think no one should re-imagine anything you happen to like - then don't listen to this, and don't buy it - but shut the **** up. I like Nina's originals, but I think this disc is really good. One song alone is worth the price of the whole disc - ""Funkier than A mosquito's Tweeter" is absolutely Bad-A**. Queue that song up - turn the volume up as high as you dare, and tear the roof off.

I have really enjoyed this CD. I've been a Nina fan for about 4 years now. I was really surprised at just how well one can remix and tune up her work to make it more modern without impacting her voice. Good stuff.

A few years back I purchashed an amazing CD of Shirley Bassey remixes and, for who knows what reason, I was under the impression that it was from this "Remixed and Reimagined" series so I purchased Nina's CD without hesitation.I am a HUGE Nina Sinone fan and thought that there was much potential for "reimagining" some of her songs, but you will never find out from this mess. Rarely have I encountered such an unlistenable product that I wanted to stompt it to pretend that it enver existed. If you like Nina, stay away no matter how hip the marketing concept may sound.
